Use Windows Paint to Check Simple Scan Method

This article will show you how to check that your scanner can use the default simple scan method in ScanSpeeder by using the built-in Windows application "Paint".

 

 

  1. First search for "paint" from your start menu or search bar.  Click on the "Paint" application that shows up in the search results.windows-paint-search
     
  2. Once Windows Paint is open, click on the drop down button on the far upper left, pictured below, then click on "From scanner or camera".

  3. You will now see an option to select your scanner.  If you don't see your scanner here, the WIA driver may not be installed correctly or may not be available for your scanner. See this article for more information on how to resolve this.

  4. Select your scanner, click OK. You will then see a dialog that allows you to scan.  Click the link "Adjust the quality of the scanned picture".scan-wia-custom-link
     
  5. You will then see a set of available resolutions. Select the desired resolution.  If you don't see any available scan resolutions or get an error message, see this article for more information on how to resolve this.

  6. Click OK, the click Scan.  You should see the photos on your flatbed scanner show up in Windows Paint. If you do not, see this article for more information on how to resolve this.
